Wood-Burning Sauna Stoves by Sauna Size/Capacity

* sauna sizes vary, your sauna may differ - calculate your sauna's "adjusted volume"

"Adjusted Volume" Is What Really Matters

When buying a sauna stove, you technically shouldn't use seating capacity.

Your sauna's adjusted volume is what dictates how powerful of a wood stove you need (measured in kilowatts, or kW).

Saunas with a lower adjusted volume need a less powerful stove (i.e. a low-kilowatt stove). Saunas with a bigger adjusted volume require a more powerful stove (i.e. a high-kW stove).

So what is your sauna's adjusted volume? It is...

  • the volume of the interior of your sauna (width x depth x height),  plus
  • an adjustment for "cold surfaces" in your sauna (i.e. glass, tile & stone), typically a +20% adjustment
If this sounds a bit tricky, don't worry... just click this button →   Calculate my sauna's adjusted volume

For every sauna stove we sell, we tell you the maximum adjusted volume the stove is rated for.

If you're the least bit confused, don't worry. Just use our CALCULATOR TOOL to tell us about your sauna. We'll tell you exactly how many kilowatts (kW) your sauna stove should have and give you our top recommendations of wood-burning stoves for your sauna.
